Aalto designed few cabinets or case goods in comparison to seating, tables and lighting. This chest of drawers dates from the early 1940s and formed part of a family of cabinets and drawer sets sharing the same construction and detailing. The solid birch structure is faced in birch plywood carcass and drawer fronts. Production of this design was limited and understood to be only on a to-order basis.
